Hi Tommy,
 
I had trying to get the IR to achieve the response of a speaker in a room ... but I don't get satisfied with the results... I think there's  something wrong with my method of use of Sat Live, specific with the setup for measure. It's possible you make a step by step guide to configure SatLive to perform IR measurements?? Also, a friend who's using SatLive had some problems with the results of IR on SatLive comparing with a Smaart measuring... after while he found that's needed to perform a delay finder and things becomes better...  It's possible this ??

Could you please give my some more details?

I assume that you're using the impulse-response display in the MAT module.

You can say that the quality of the impulse-response rises with the length of the IR and the amount of averages used. The setup is the same as used for the dual-FFT transfer funciton.

What did you expect, and what did you get?

Hi Tommy, sorry for the delay.

So I don't have to make different setup for IR measurements? I'll try new rooms measurements and reports later.

I have a new question... I'm thinking buying a new notebook, but all are with the Windows 7 64 Bits (Professional or Home Premium). It's ok for SatLive work with this system??

Hi,

SATlive with version 1.5 and above works fine on win7/64. Make sure that your audio-device's drivers are uptodate.

As you might have noticed, there are two areas in SATlive where you can measure an impulse-response (IR).

First, the so called IR module:

- Optimized for working with impulse-responses

- You can edit the impulse response (windowing)

- A lot of post-processing available (RT60, C50, C80, D50, D80, STI)

- Zero time is physical zero

- Different methods available (MLS, Sweep, Chirp, Dual FFT) to measure impulse responses

- 'Non realtime' working model: Capture IR -> Select Range of interest -> Analyze

- Please see the manual for details.

Second the IR measurement in the MAT module

- Continious updates

- Centered around 'virtual' time zero

- Virtual time zero is the currently selected delay value

- No postprocessing available (but you can export the trace to the IR module)

- Main purpose: Time adjustment for Dual-FFT or Delay-Lines

- Calculated using Dual - FFT. As on the transfer-function, this yields the best results when the I-R is located a the center (virtual time zero). For best quality use the delay finder (or  P and F3 ) to center the IR before you take a closer look
on it.

For both measurements:

- Larger IR size improves quality of the impulse-response.

- Larger amount of averages improves quality, especial when external noise is present.

- If no external noise is present, I'd suggest to increase the size of the impulseresponse.
