Tutorial or instruction manual...
« on: August 28, 2011, 21:54 »
Hello,

I'm brand new to this software and the entire concept of "tuning a room" using sophisticated tools such as SATlive.  I would like to know if there is a beginner's tutorial out there or perhaps the help files in the form of a .pdf file.  I would like to be able to keep the help files on a thumb drive so I can read them on-the-go without having to install and open the software.  The .zip file I downloaded only included a setup.exe file and no documentation.

Thanx,

Donnie Frank

Hi,

welcome to SATlive.

The software-installer installs the help-file as pdf, which can be accessed via the start-menu entry 'SATlive 1.40'

Furthermore, there are two other documents, both dealing mainly with adjustment of delay between subwoofer an mid/high speakers. The first one, which I created some time (so the pictures might not fit exactly with the current gui) ago explains all basic steps (adjusting delay for measurement, measurement of frequency response, saving of traces) and focuses on the phase-matiching approach. http://www.take-sat.de/download/timealignmentE.pdf

The second one, available at http://www.take-sat.de/download/UseDelaySuggestion.pdf has its scope on the new functions, but also shows all steps to take for a measurement.

I think both papers are a good start to come familiar with how to use SATlive.

Hi Donny: Jeffsco here from the SAC Forum! I found the pdf's to be full of great information. I agree....an in depth tutorial would be great but...keep in mind..Rational Acoustics would have us pay huge $$$ to get the training for their SMAART program let alone the buy in cost for the program itself. I appreciate that Tomy is able to keep the cost down for SATLive.

There is a ton of information out there. I use the Rational Forum to glean information. Bob McArthy's Book is finally starting to make sense to me now that I have made a few measurements. PSW forum has quite a bit on the use of SMAART, SIM, Systune etc. They ae all Dual FFT measurement systems and most of the information is applicable to SATLive.Gotta keep on digging.

Glad you've got  the program.

Hi,

thanks for your reply.
There are some documents which refer to SATlive, like

http://www.dasaudio.com/documentos_D/articulos/ingles/Cardioid_Subwoofer_System_V11.pdf

http://www.dasaudio.com/DOCUMENTOS_D/ARTICULOS/INGLES/PHASE_ALIGNMENT.PDF

Furthermore I did some two-day seminars and there are other people using SATlive during their seminars. Most of them in spanish language.
There are only a few copies of SATlive north to mexico, but a lot more in Latin America.
So there are some very basic documents in Spanish language, there is a thesis of a friend of mine in German and so on.

I know that I should do more 'real live' examples, but as you might know, time is too short during setup / soundcheck...

So if you have questions, feel free to ask them here.
