audio I/O
« on: January 26, 2011, 10:00 »
will it be possible, in a future release, to use two different sound cards as input for REF and MIC?
it will be helpfull, f.e. when you want to use a digital input as REF input, and a simple mic.pre-A/D converter for MIC input. thanks

Hi Luciano,

thanks for your question.
Using different cards for the same function (i.e. as input or as output) is not a good idea.

- It might work or work not depending on the version of windows, the soundcard used and so on.

- Both inputs would need to be in perfect sync, otherwise you'll face a changing delay between the both channels.

By the way, the ASIO specification states that only one device should be used at the same time, so in ASIO even input and output need to use the same driver. Opposite to that you can use different I/O interfaces for input and outut when you use DirectSound or WindowsWave drivers in SATlive.
