Calibration
« on: September 24, 2009, 00:28 »
Hi Tommy,

What's the correct selection for calibration?

The help file says :

If you use an SPL meter, then you need to set the external SPL meter's paramter to A weighting and Slow RMS display.

But the calibration window says:

Place a dB meter on mic's location.
SATlive will now play 1k sine wave.
Select this Settings on the Sound Pressure Meter RMS, Slow, C-Weighting

Hi Chris,

:-) Thanks for your feedback. In fact, A and C Weighting show the same result at (and only at) 1kHz. So it does not mater which setting you use.

Ok...

But I do the calibration just like the instructions, but the level show in the display of SAT Live it's always bigger then the SPL meter...

I'd think thats because the use of the ponderation C can reads low frequency noyse from the enviroment, so the level mismatch with the SPL meter...

I'll try again a calibration using the A ponderation and see what's happen.

Thanks,

Best regards,

Christian

Hi,

- a level calibration is done using the 'Set dB reference' function in the tools menu

- a correction of the frequency response of the mic could be done using the miccaleditor (http://www.take-sat.de/download/miccaledit.zip), where you can create a mic-correction trace. You can also use any SATlive- Smooth Frequency Response trace (!Not a transfer trace, you can select the kind of trace in the Save-Dialog). Use the miccorrection menu/entry in the tools menu or the short-cut M to select/activate/deactivate the miccorrection.
